The team behind Daffodil Hill Press

We came to publishing by accident—four New York City public school teachers turned literacy consultants who wanted better materials to support early childhood reading development. We couldn’t find them, so we decided to make them ourselves—and in 2022, Daffodil Hill Press was born.

Our goal has always been to create the kinds of books we wished our students could have in their hands, and the kind of resources that we want to use as educators.

We care deeply about educators and about children, and that’s who we keep in mind as we author and illustrate books, construct instructional resources for teachers, and lead professional development. When we make decisions, we think first about teachers and students. How long should these books be, and why? What’s the best format for this that will help teachers? How many books should we have for each skill? Each question is examined with teachers and their students in mind. At Daffodil Hill Press, we really mean it when we say that we work to make books and materials that are good for students, good for teachers, and good for the world.

In addition to creating books and instructional resources, we also lead meaningful and joyful professional development across the country in order to help schools and districts shift literacy practices to better align with the science of reading.
